A Letter From Coach Craig McCord
"I want to take this time to thank everyone involved in making the Football Reunion Weekend a tremendous success.
It was certainly a humbling experience and quite an honor to have the field at The Landing Strip named after me. As I think back over the 30 years I coached at Ayersville there are so many memories that will last a lifetime. There was plenty of laughter and tears over the weekend.
What a thrill to see so many of you come home to celebrate the rich tradition that you built known as Ayersville Football. It was so great to see the 3 decades of players share their stories and memories of experiences on and off the field.
I want to thank all the parents who entrusted their sons and daughters with the coaching staffs we had over the years. We always tried to teach more than X's and O's. The fruits of our labor are seen in the families of the players we mentored.
I also want to thank the Ayersville community for their loyal support over those 30 years as we tried to build a program that you would be proud of.
As we think about all the games that were played, with many thrilling and exciting moments, let's never forget what developed in the process --- the work ethic, the never-give-up attitude, a belief that we would get the job done regardless of the odds, and the love and respect we had for each other. You can be very proud of what you accomplished.
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be a small part of your lives over the years.
To all the coaches who were part of the program over the years I want to say thank you for your loyal support and all that you did to help make the football program the success that it became. You can be very proud of your efforts.
I think I could go on forever, but just let me say that you made an old coach very happy over the weekend. Hopefully it won't be another 25 years before we get together again. If you ever need anything don't hesitate to contact me anytime.
